Has anyone tried out the Lexis Web beta search engine yet? At first it seems quite natty, with good, relevant result sets. But the related search widgets are lame and the complete no-no is framing the linked pages.

BYU’s Hunter Law Library has created a neat, new drop-down search toolbar for their students and faculty. Has anyone else created something with multiple database options like this for their library?

The Article 29 Data Protection Working Party has advised the European Commission that search engines should delete personal data after 6 months. Google and Yahoo currently do this after 18 months, while MSN do it after 13.

Yahoo is going to start adopting semantic web standards in their search. This could be interesting. I’ve been waiting for some higher profile interest in semantic web stuff – will this be the ‘killer app’ for the semantic web?

Just got facebook message from the guy behind preCydent. First saw this a few weeks back, a US based legal search tool. Has some promise, and love the youtube demo, esp about 4 mins in when he slates Westlaw and Lexis for relevance. Class.
