Inner Temple have covered this, but I think it’s worth flagging in its own right- Outlaw are reportingthat the music industry are lobbying for a tax on MP3 players, to “compensate” for losses incurred by the transfer of CDs to MP3. All redolent of the Home Taping is Killing Music campaign waged by the music industry in the eighties.

Not very library related at all, but worth sharing: a set of charts based on songs on flickr. My favourite is this one.

I’ve followed Meg Kribble and installed Simplify Media. The idea is good… if a bit legally dubious. If you want to find me there I’m simonf

I downloaded Simplify Media (discussed down-blog) on my work machine, and wow! Cool! I spent an afternoon listening to Jim’s iTunes library, feeling like a total moocher, because all I’ve got to offer in return so far are the Battlestar Galactica soundtracks and a few random podcast episodes.
It also felt like doing something the RIAA et al. would sternly disapprove of, but I’ve noticed that it doesn’t work if the other person’s machine is off.
In short: very cool tool. If anyone else joins it, you can find me under mak506.
