Dunno if if the English peeps get any info on this, but CaseCheck’s a snazzy service. it’s a free service that uses experts in their field to write synopsis of recent cases, and you can subscribe to the RSS feeds of all types, or just specific areas.
It’s Scottish-based, so you’ll find material on it that’s only relevant to Scots like Court of Session stuff, but it also has bits that are UK relevant, like Employment Appeal Tribunal Cases.
I have asked and got verbal permission for the fact that all material is ok for reposting in internal news etc, with attribution.

Looks like Oregon has decided against asserting copyright claims over their legislation.
Yay - well done on not making crazy choices Oregon!

Anyone else downloaded Firefox 3 today?
Very pretty, nice things like a ‘most visited’ tab for places you visit regulalry-ish.
So far, my missing / incompatible extensions are:
del.icio.us
Citebite
Awseome Highlighter
Hopefully these will get fixed soon, but if you use them a lot, might be best to hold off on installing it until they are.
Fireshot and Mouse Gestures still working though.

I hate Yahoo Pipes. All I want is to pull together the feeds of various sites with a common theme into one feed that peeps can subscribe to, but it keeps telling me it can’t parse any of the feeds.
Not chuffed.
So: anyone know of another way to pull multiple feeds into one? I didn’t really pay a lot of attention when it was being discussed a while ago, but now I need to know and can’t remember where the discussions on it were…any clues anyone?

Because it is, I’m switching to soft drinks…
Sheesh - as if getting over-friendly with bicycles and pavements isn’t enough!

I’ve had to figure out how to turn off Beacon in Facebook, as it was asking to send info to my Facebook profile when I was playing games on what must be a partner site in America. I didn’t even know it affected UK users yet! Iwas having to tell it ‘no’ for only a few games though - odd.
To turn it off:
Privacy >
News Feed and Mini Feeds >
Actions on External Websites >
Tick box marked “Don’t allow any websites to send stories to my profile.”
Save changes.Just in case anyone else wants to get rid of it and hasn’t done this already!

Apparently, the laws of Oregon are copyrighted, and can’t be published…

As reported on the Sky News site, Harriet Harmans blog has been hacked, and a post announcing her resignation from the Labour party and defection to the Conservatives has appeared…
I took a screenshot for the entertainment value before it disappears!

Has anyone else been having any problems getting on the TSO website, or getting a current Daily List?
I use the Previous Daily Lists area of the site to pick up legislation from, and each days list is usually there by mid morning.
I couldn’t get on the Daily List part of the TSO site for most of this morning, and it doesn’t appear to have any Previous List for yesterday or today, last lot showing is Fridays. Are they on holiday, having problems, or am I mad?

Right, time for Tunnocks to have another shot at getting their VAT back from their ‘luxury product’ of Teacakes, now that M&S have proved a teacake is actually, yes, a cake.
Btw, I love Tunnocks Teacakes. Might be a by-product of being from the place where they’re made! :-)

After the bank case where it was initally ordered to shut down, Wikileaks is now hosting secret Scientology documentation.
And they’re not going to take them down, despite the Church’s claims that hosting them breaches their copyright. This could get veeeeery messy!

Useful looking course about:
From Parliament Square to Holyrood – historical official publications online
A seminar aimed at all users of official publications and statistics. The seminar will provide an introduction to all the new and exciting historical resources currently available online – from Pre 1707 Scots Parliament records, early Westminster through to the Holyrood of the present day.
It is though, in Edinburgh! And does seem, fromt he breakdown, to be far more about UK law online, with just one Scottish talk, so not too Scots specific if anyone feels like a jaunt up North :D
More info (from the email) on m’blog if anyone’s interested.
http://www.lib.gla.ac.uk/swop/events/index.html is the booking page but doesn’t have the detail of the course.

OK, so I take a day off, and come back to find all my RSS feeds from the GNN don’t work. When I click on the links to get the full info, the link is dead. Instead of the GNN they’re now linking back to the News Distribution Service for the Government and Private Sector.
Does anyone else get feeds from the GNN (as was), and are they working for you today?
I can’t get into my account to manage it, which may either be the fault of my new computer, or them wiping me.
Ho hum, off to register as a new user and set everything up again… so much for “everything staying the same”!

Heathrow Airport has very quietly temporarily dropped their plans to fingerprint every passenger travelling through the new Terminal 5 at the airport, as it’s dubious if they have the authority to compel passengers to give the data.
Had a (very) quick scout about the BAA / Heathrow site to try and find the statement referred to, but can’t see it anywhere obvious?

Woo-hoo, I got my Chartership!
I’ll not go into the details, but suffice to say, this was a painful and infuriating process!
Now I can ignore them for 3 years…until they want me to revalidate!

My trawling of the interwebs continues - another post with more UK library bloggers. I’m going to eventually sort them into one nice list somewhere and continue to add to it as I find more bloggers.
Of course, I’ve not listed any of us UK law librarians yet!
