Has anyone tried out the Lexis Web beta search engine yet? At first it seems quite natty, with good, relevant result sets. But the related search widgets are lame and the complete no-no is framing the linked pages.

I wasn’t fussed on it – the results seem a bit US-centric. And the lack of any explanatory info turned me off a bit – what are they searching? how are they searching it? More info please.

Well, it looks like it’s a weighted result set from a list of cherry-picked sites, a la a Google CSE implementation. But it would be nice to know the underlying technology and methodology.
The related searches? God knows! Under people, George Bush and Tony Blair seem to pop up a lot; … and under keywords, Cialis and Viagra! So more work is definitely needed there!

I wasn’t impressed, try running a search for BIALL and OPSI and have a look at the results. As Jennifer says what are they searching and how?
