So, it’s not looking to good for Ken is it? The Londoners amongst us might have Boris as Mayor in about 8hrs time. Thoughts anyone?

Ohhh, nice selection of “possibly elated posts”!!

That’s cool! Looks like a new feature.

Do you think all the Russians in London will have voted for Boris, thinking he is one of their own?

  • neilstewart 11:09 am on May 2, 2008 | #

And don’t forget the Turkish community- after all, Boris is part Turkish!

  • jennielaw 11:10 am on May 2, 2008 | #

To be honest, I’m not even sure he’s entirely human, he may have been left behind by a befuddled E.T. scouting party…

Methinks accidentally droping the ‘r’ from ‘related’ made my comment more amusing than it may otherwise have been! :D

    What have you done London?

  • neilstewart 11:26 am on May 2, 2008 | #

Well quite. Time to think about leaving, although that kind of talk always reminds me of Tory celebs who claim they will “leave the country if Labour get in”.

  • jennielaw 11:29 am on May 2, 2008 | #

We could always send you Joke McConnell, he’s probably still looking for a position…or is that cruel? :D

  • lo-fi 11:36 am on May 2, 2008 | #

Ha, I’ve already left. Still, I have to travel in each day so will not get to escape the Boris effect.

  • iOverlord 11:39 am on May 2, 2008 | #

I think you could all be wrong and that ken will hold on (by tiniest of margins)

I’m with you iOverlord - I keep having (some, small, dwindling) faith that the numbers will get better…

If there’s one lesson from the last 20yrs of British politics, it’s that you should never count Ken out…

I am planning to be in a pub this evening (Cittie of York, if anyone is in the area) to either drown myself sorrows or celebrate anyone* but boris winning.

*where by anyone I mean, not BNP, Respect etc.

  • iOverlord 12:35 pm on May 2, 2008 | #

Ah, sharing the moment with Sam Smith.

  • Barbara Gordon 12:40 pm on May 2, 2008 | #

@iOverlord. Aye. A nice pint of oatmeal stout, cider reserve or a bottle of cherry beer is on the cards for 5:30.

  • iOverlord 12:45 pm on May 2, 2008 | #

Oatmeal stout - yummy :-) … or nice cold wheat beer.

Just been having a look at the Guardian and BBC blogs, both report that the Tories are privately extremely confident about Boris becoming mayor. Depressing times.

  • Barbara Gordon 1:00 pm on May 2, 2008 | #

@neil - I just read the same blogs. Oh gods. *rocks back and forth*

Bookies have already started paying out on bets on Boris

  • jennielaw 3:37 pm on May 2, 2008 | #

So…for someone not living there or knowing much about the issues…what the trouble with Boris?

    Now - no sweary words!

  • iOverlord 3:44 pm on May 2, 2008 | #

I know you’re not meant to say this, but I think secretly a lot of non tory leaning people are more worried that he wont be the disaster that many people predict - although I do know someone within tory HQ that is a anti Boris as you could get.

  • neilstewart 3:57 pm on May 2, 2008 | #

Read something somewhere along those lines- bad for both Labour (losing a key battle etc.) and Tories (having an incompetent in charge of London). Not much fun for those of use who have to live here tho.

Boris is unfortunately the price you pay for democracy. I hope he falls off his bicycle under a bendy bus. That would be a laugh.

Anyone want to apply for a job with him?

You know, working from the inside, creating huge publicity and press gaffes…oh, hold on, he’s naturally talented at that himself, isn’t he?
    Helloooo Liverpool!
