US gov’t sells exclusive access to its legislative history to Thomson West? Whilst this wouldn’t surprise me, it’s a really, really bad idea if it’s true… Freedom of information, anyone?

Fortunately, exclusive access doesn’t mean exclusive rights. I suspect (but have not looked into it because I see a lot of other people are) that Thomson scanned them for GAO and until someone else does, Thomson will have exclusive online access. I’m just guessing….
