I had to use Lotus Notes at a workplace in my pre-librarian days and it was pure torture.

Ohhh, we use Lotus Notes here (had never used it before), and it’s actually hugely modified by our IT team. Runs our catalogue, current awareness service, all sorts.
I think it helps to have really good IT support for it.
I don’t think anyone had modified the Lotus Notes installation I used since 1995, if ever. A little (or perhaps completely un-) surprising since this was a HUGE American company.
